Intensive Couples Counseling in Southampton, NY
Why Intensive Couples Counseling?
When the same conflicts keep repeating, it may be time for a different kind of conversation. You may love each other and still feel stuck.
An intensive creates more space.
Rather than spreading the work across many short appointments, we set aside extended, focused time to understand your relationship, identify recurring patterns, and work together on what keeps getting in the way.
Intensive Counseling
The extended format gives us time to explore patterns in greater depth without having to stop just as important material begins to emerge.
The Process
Our Three-Step Process
1. Intake: A 90-minute clinical assessment to initiate the intensive process. We will explore your relationship history and current challenges in a supportive environment. The goal is to build a clear roadmap for our work together, ensuring both partners feel heard and understood.
2. Intensive: A deep 6-7 hour focused session.
This extended time gives us the space to move beyond surface-level arguments and explore the patterns underlying your relationship. Rather than stopping just as important issues begin to emerge, we have time to stay with the conversation, understand what is happening between you, and begin working toward meaningful change.
3. Integration: Ongoing support to help reinforce new patterns of connection. We will reflect on your progress and practice new ways of communicating in your daily life. Integration sessions provide an opportunity to build on the work of the intensive and address old patterns as they arise.
What's Included
- Prepare/Enrich assessment to identify specific strengths and growth areas within your partnership.
- Family maps and/or genograms, helping us see how generational patterns influence your current interactions.
- Relational patterns and cycles, identifying the "dance" you get stuck in so you can learn to step out of it together.
- Psychoeducation on skills to provide a shared language and practical tools for healthier conflict resolution.
Setting aside focused time for your relationship creates the opportunity to understand recurring patterns more deeply and begin practicing different ways of relating to one another.

About Damian
Damian Duda, LMFT. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Southampton, New York. I work with couples and individuals from the belief that meaningful change often begins by understanding the patterns beneath our reactions.
In couples work, I'm interested not simply in stopping an argument, but in helping both partners understand what the argument represents, why the pattern continues, and how each person participates in keeping it alive. Therapy provides a space where we can become curious about those dynamics without reducing the relationship to blame.
